Orange Chiffon Heart Cakes

I had intended to bake for Valentine's Day, but somehow did not find the time until the event is over until the weekend. Since the occasion is over, there is no need to make a red cake, so made these chiffon with orange concentrate and they were a winner.

Ingredients:
A:
5 egg yolks
1/2 tsp salt
80 g oil
30 g orange juice concentrate
30 g water
50 g sugar
100 g cake flour
1/3 tsp baking powder
B:
4 egg whites - room temperature
100 g sugar
1/8 tsp cream of tartar

Method:
Preheat oven at 350 f.
Mix (A) till well blended.
Whisk egg whites in (B) till foamy then add cream of tartar. Continue to whip till soft peak, then add the sugar gradually. Whisk until thick and glossy.
Add 1/3 of the egg whites into (A) till well combined, then fold in the rest of the egg whites as gently as possible .
Pour into the heart moulds.
Bake at 350 f for 20 minutes or until done.
Remove from oven and immediately invert cakes onto a cake rack which is sitting on a colander.
Let cakes cool before removing from heart moulds.

  3. A friend taught me to make chiffon cakes many years ago. I like orange cakes, but I am too lazy to wash up after wards.

Did you get the heart moulds custommade or from Phoon huat in Singapore.

Are your recipes compiled in a book?

  6. hi all, wonder if anyone is interested in purchasing corrugated pizza boxes suitable for 12-inch pizzas. ideal for home pizza-makers. only S$0.45/box. free delivery in Singapore. desperately trying to offload 500 boxes that's piling at home. I've passed the pizza-making phase, and don't know what to do with hundreds of boxes. drop me a note at my blog if you are interested or are able to help (there's a picture of the box). thanks.

  7. Hi AuntLily,
Thanks for your wonderful recipes! You got me trying all different recipes on your blog and I've been spending most of my time off baking/cooking :)
I tried baking the chiffon cake but since I don't have orange juice concentrate, I replace with mango juice. I also don't have cake flour, so I used all purpose flour and corn starch, as you mentioned in your pandan chiffon cake recipe. Though it came out tasty & soft (without mango fragrant, haha), it's not fluffy like regular chiffon. Is it because I fold for too long and because of the all purpose flour?
Thanks and please continue to share your yummy recipes!!!
