  1. Hi Lily, I've been reading your blog for a while and I really love it!!!

Can I ask you one question? Is brown sugar the same as as light brown sugar? Coz I only found brown sugar and dark brown sugar around. Thanks a lot!

dark brown sugar has more molasses then light, you can use either in recipes which say brown sugar - the result of cake will only be in the color and perhaps a tinge of taste stronger with the dark.

  11. Dear Auntie Lily,

Although your recipes are all nicely categorized now, I do find it hard to find some recipes.

I was trying to find roti canai this morning and it wasn't under bread.

paper wrapped chicken is a very old recipe as old as me i think. in fact i have forgotten about it, perhaps it's the deep frying.

of course, you could bake but the crispiness is not there. i don't know about grilling as the paper might get burnt and using foil, the chicken will be like a roast with oriental flavor

cancun was great, sunny and breezy.

the best part was that the condo we stayed in had a very well equiped kitchen and the supermarkets are within walking distance. Seafood and meat were very fresh, spinach is about the only green leafy veg available.

i had to cook with maggi seasoning and soya sauce but they do have a good variety of salsa.

i am not a beach person. i would just sit in the shade and read abit but feels very guilty about not doing anything fruitful. it would be better if i could explore a local market.

do you mean that the finish product is rough in texture? it could be the brand of rice flour that you used.

try sieving the batter before you make the cheong fun.

i used rice flour from thailand, they are very fine

  26. I find it nicer to melt the butter first then add it into the egg mixture before pan frying them in a non stick pan.
