I was told that you can make a cross mark on top of batter with an oiled spatula or sprinkle sugar in the cross sign on the batter to make it smile. Perhaps it will work but to me, it will work if the steamer is well enclosed and the steam kept in and create very high steam before the cake is put to steam. Make sure steamer lid is lined too, cos a single drop of condensation and the cake will not rise.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784670399648449327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-26094082044574966032008-12-30T21:35:00.000-07:002008-12-30T21:35:00.000-07:00Dear Auntie Lily,Thank you for sharing your recipe...Dear Auntie Lily,

Thank you for sharing your recipes. Is there a specific type/size of mould that work better for steaming Huat Kuih? I tried steaming a bigger kuih (6 X 2 inch) but it merely did a Mona Lisa on me. I did preheat the container and lined it with parchment before pouring in the batter. Also, I didn't have Accord so I only used baking powder.

Thank you!

RowenaRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00231312567582334448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-34640525682397669452008-05-14T18:17:00.000-06:002008-05-14T18:17:00.000-06:00ginayou are a lady with a big heart. your most ch...gina

you are a lady with a big heart. your most cherished gift arrived by mail and i am so touched by your gesture.

Thank you, this ingredient will be treasured.

kam siaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784670399648449327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-16362788954343420252008-05-07T09:32:00.000-06:002008-05-07T09:32:00.000-06:00ginai really appreciate your kind thoughts. Give it a good stir before pouring into the empty steamed cups. 1 good stir is good enough. Over stirring will kill the 'rising' effect. There is a story behind of why Rice is use in making huat kueh. which I have documented it at KC. I hope one day to pass it on to my girls. My mom told me the story.Gina Choonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06838812011546453986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-37592044030799250452008-04-27T15:30:00.000-06:002008-04-27T15:30:00.000-06:00anonymousi could get from the asian stores in denv...anonymous

i could get from the asian stores in denver but it's a huge pack for 5.99.

california readers please help

thanksAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784670399648449327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-55386640553462925942008-04-27T14:48:00.000-06:002008-04-27T14:48:00.000-06:00HI lilly, Your blog is wonderful and I love it,can...HI lilly,
Your blog is wonderful and I love it,can you let me know where can I get ragi/chow peang in california usa.
Thank's a millionAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-90867455435417846362008-04-25T18:16:00.000-06:002008-04-25T18:16:00.000-06:00sukkimisorry, i don't do tagssukkimi

sorry, i don't do tagsAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784670399648449327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-86555829909179165082008-04-20T05:18:00.000-06:002008-04-20T05:18:00.000-06:00anonymouswhich part of the world are you in? if i...anonymous

which part of the world are you in? if in singapore, try the chinese medicine shopsAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784670399648449327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-64984201608005675732008-04-19T09:48:00.000-06:002008-04-19T09:48:00.000-06:00Thank you for receipe , but what is 'ragi/chow pae...Thank you for receipe , but what is 'ragi/chow paeng' ??? and where I can buy it ! thanks again ...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-91572027589580296122008-04-19T08:03:00.000-06:002008-04-19T08:03:00.000-06:00hi hi you have been tagged.hi hi you have been tagged.Simonnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11194702090618860794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-57999782947274191122008-04-18T16:09:00.000-06:002008-04-18T16:09:00.000-06:00PPthis is a very difficult question to answer.the ...PP

this is a very difficult question to answer.

the batter should be like pancake batter.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784670399648449327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-83472268502553358832008-04-18T13:14:00.000-06:002008-04-18T13:14:00.000-06:00LiLy:If the batter is too thick when I get home fr...LiLy:

If the batter is too thick when I get home from work, should I add more water and how much?

Thanks.

:)

PPAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12790784.post-50775964811151784962008-04-18T12:02:00.000-06:002008-04-18T12:02:00.000-06:00PPthe final batter is runny but the fermented rice...PP

the final batter is runny but the fermented rice is quite thickAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784670399648449327noreply@blogger.com
